Leg Liposuction

What it is

Leg liposuction reduces localized fat on the thighs, inner knees or calves, refining the line of the leg. It is a contouring procedure rather than a weight-loss one, and it works best on pockets of fat that persist despite a stable weight.

What to expect

Dr. Sibaja assesses which areas will respond and how they relate to one another — treating a single area in isolation can make the ones around it more noticeable. At your consultation she explains what is realistic for your build and what recovery involves.

Every answer is a starting point — your consultation goes deeper, personally.

Which areas can be treated?
Outer and inner thighs, the pad above the inner knee, and calves. Which of them will actually respond is assessed individually — not every area behaves the same way.
Why treat several areas rather than one?
Because treating a single area in isolation can make the ones around it more noticeable. Legs are read as one line, and Dr. Sibaja plans them that way.
Is this a treatment for cellulite?
No. Cellulite is caused by fibrous bands tethering the skin, not by the volume of fat beneath it, and liposuction does not release them. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling. Other treatments address it, with realistic expectations.
What about lipoedema or swelling?
If your legs swell, feel tender, or the distribution is unusual, that needs assessment before any contouring is discussed. Dr. Sibaja will look at this rather than treat the appearance alone.
What does the procedure involve?
Small access points under local anaesthesia with sedation, as a day procedure, with the areas planned and marked while you are standing.
What is the recovery?
Compression garments for a period, bruising and swelling settling over weeks, and walking encouraged early. Legs take somewhat longer than arms to look their best.
When is the result final?
Three to six months, as swelling resolves fully and the skin retracts. Judging too early is the most common source of unnecessary worry.
Will it help me fit clothes better?
That is usually the honest goal, and a realistic one — but it depends on where your volume actually sits. Dr. Sibaja will tell you what changing it will and will not do for how clothes fall.
